Our scholars in our after-school program learned to make tortillas from scratch. From grinding the corn to enjoying the final product. Thanks to Mr. Fish for leading this great project. The scholars started with ears of corn, removed the husks, shelled it, and finally ground it with the mortar and pestle. Next step, make tortillas! Tanya Sanchez, school cook and after school coordinator, taught us how to mix, roll and press the corn flour to make the tortillas and then to bake them on a hot plate. Then the scholars got to enjoy them!
