Classroom Assessments

Classroom teachers constantly monitor the progress of each scholar through daily instruction, lesson check-ins, and end of unit assessments.  Academic progress is communicated to parents at the end of each trimester along with weekly and mid-trimester updates for scholars who may be facing academic challenges.

HPLP Assessment Data

Our blended learning platforms in English and Math provide assessment tools to place scholars on their unique learning paths, weekly data to help teachers with intervention and scholar goal setting, mid-year assessments to show and project growth, and end of year assessments to help scholars see what they have accomplished for the year.
  • In grades Kindergarten-2, we utilize iReady Math and Lexia Core 5 Reading.
  • In grades 3-5, we utilize iReady Reading and iReady Math.
  • In grades 6-8, we utilize MAP Accelerator Math, Manga High Math, and iReady Reading.
New to country scholars in our Newcomer Experience also utilize Rosetta Stone, Lexia English, and Lexia PowerUp to help learn English.
Scholars in Spanish classes utilize Duolingo.

Standardized Assessments

In addition to our daily and weekly progress monitoring and trimester analysis, we also measure scholar growth and achievement with these annual tools.  
NWEA MAP Growth: Our K-8 scholars participate in three testing terms a year: fall, winter and spring. Scholars are assessed in both math and reading to measure growth toward their own individualized goals.
WIDA Access 2.0:  The WIDA Access 2.0 Assessment is given annually to English Language Learners to monitor students’ progress in learning academic English.  This assessment meets U.S. federal requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) for monitoring and reporting ELLs’ progress toward English language proficiency.  It corresponds to the WIDA English Language Development Standards and assesses the four language domains of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
